Set against the high-gloss backdrop of Johannesburg’s influencer culture, Bad Influencer follows BK (Jo-Anne Reyneke), a skilled but struggling fashion designer and single mother. Drowning in debt and desperate to provide specialized schooling for her neurodivergent son, Leo, BK uses her master craftsmanship to create “mirror-grade” counterfeit luxury handbags.
@Rosa Mamani yes, the filming is incredible. The way they blend the glamour of influencer culture with the harsh realities of BK’s life is so well done.
Just finished watching Bad Influencer and I’m still reeling from the drama. BK’s transformation is amazing, but the way the show critiques the influencer culture is both thought-provoking and uncomfortable.
I must say, I was blown away by the portrayal of BK’s struggles as a single mother and a struggling fashion designer. The way the show highlights the darker side of influencer culture is both thought-provoking and haunting.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! That twist in the middle had me screaming
Zero (2025) just redefined the sci-fi genre for me. The visuals were stunning!
I get what the director was trying to say, but I didn’t particularly enjoy the ride.
I dunno guys, still trying to wrap my head around the themes. Anyone got a clear analysis?
@Genevieve I had the same feeling, but then I re-watched it and it all made sense
Just watched Zero (2025) and I’m still reeling from the experience! The film’s exploration of the human mind is both fascinating and terrifying.
omg what happened to the main character at the end of the movie? did anyone else feel that way? 😱
@Brittany what do you mean by ‘what happened’ I’m dying to know lol
tbh I was a bit disappointed in the plot twists. Expected more complexity from the story but it felt kinda predictable.
Not sure what to think about the ending… did it feel unfinished to anyone else?
@Priya I think it’s all about the idea of the main character’s mental state during the climax
I’m still trying to understand the ending tbh. Anyone got a solid explanation?
Best movie of the year! Mind-bending climax and incredible sound design
@Tebogo I think it’s all about the idea of free will vs. predetermination
Loved every minute of it!!! The cast was phenomenal, especially the lead actor. His transformation was so believable.
What an intense thriller! The tension was building up throughout the whole film
Fire movie! 🔥
The cast was great, but I felt like the story was underdeveloped
Has anyone else noticed the cinematography in this show? The way they capture the city’s energy and style is breathtaking.
@Liam Wilson couldn’t agree more. The portrayal of the industry’s darker side had me questioning everything from the start.
Really enjoyed the way the show explores the themes of identity and class in South African society. The character development is also top-notch.
@Isaiah Washington totally agree on the character development. BK is such a compelling protagonist.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the portrayal of the influencer scene in Johannesburg. It’s both captivating and unsettling
I must say, I was blown away by the portrayal of BK’s struggles as a single mother and a struggling fashion designer. The way the show highlights the darker side of influencer culture is both thought-provoking and haunting.
