The Hatchworth Removal Centre is more than just a setting; it is an antagonist in its own right. The 2025 drama uses the claustrophobic environment to highlight the dehumanizing nature of detention. As Isio waits for a fair hearing that seems to drift further away, the bond she forms with Farah becomes her only source of light in a system that views her as nothing more than a file number.

This movie did a great job but I think it could’ve been even more powerful. Some scenes felt cheesy to me though
@Nur Syafiqah couldn’t agree more
Can’t believe it’s a true story, just watched the special features. 6/5
Loved the performance of the lead actor! Isio’s character reminded me of my cousin
@Sofie Johansen I’m so with you on that! The ending was deep
@Sofie Johansen but isn’t that kinda the point? To make you think about it?
@Baraka Msomi agreed! They all did a great job!
@Baraka Msomi they did great tbh. Some scenes made me laugh even despite the heavy subject matter
@Fang Li yes, they did a solid job!
What do you guys think about the performance of the supporting cast? Thought they did a good job
I’m so tired of these kinds of movies that just focus on pitying refugees instead of actually giving them a voice
I’m still trying to process what I just watched it was that impactful
Just watched and I’m still thinking about it. What’s with the director’s obsession with claustrophobia tho?
@Nusrat Jahan yeah, some scenes felt a bit forced to me too, but still a great message
@Abebe Girma that’s a good point! Maybe next time…
@Larissa Martins let’s make it happen!
What do you guys think about the ending? Confusing?
@Karen Chan actually, I kinda liked the ending. It was symbolic and it all made sense after some thought
@Ming Liu same here, need to understand it better lol
@Daniel Medina exactly!
@Karen Chan idk lol. Needed a rewatch for sure.
@Pedro Alves exactly, it shows the harsh realities of detention centers
@Ayçe Kaya ahaha omg your cousin must be a very strong person lol
@Maja Larsson amen!
@Samia Benali same here but let’s have a rewatch group, lol
@Gbenga Lawal I know right? He’s such a talented actor!
@Omar Cherkaoui I’m glad you liked the special features! I’ll have to watch them now
@Liam Wilson yaaas agreed 100%!
@Liam Wilson glad you liked the special features! They’re really eye-opening
Just saw it and can’t describe how moved I was. 5/5
@Lucía Sánchez agreed, the message was strong even if some scenes didn’t quite work
Felt so uncomfortable watching this! 🤕 3/5
@Lee Sungho I get what you mean, but I think it did an amazing job of highlighting the issue
@Karim Khoury yeah I was thinking the same thing, but still a great movie overall
@Dariush Ahmadi actually, the director was inspired by their own experiences in detention
Gonna have to watch it again and pay more attention to the symbolism
@Fatima Zohra exactly!
@Sofie Johansen lol yes, definitely a deep ending
Would’ve loved to see more from the POV of the staff instead of just the detainees
Finally a movie that shows the truth about detention centers Fire movie!
@Larissa Martins preach, someone finally!
TBH I wasn’t expecting much but it was actually pretty good. 4/5
Can’t believe the director wasn’t Iranian, the settings were kinda off
Ugh, cannot believe they portrayed the refugees in such a harsh light. Not everyone thought of it that way… what a shame
TBH not sure what to think about it. 3/5 I guess
The way the characters interact with each other, despite the oppressive environment, it’s like they’re holding onto hope. Beautiful
The way they portrayed the removal centre, I felt trapped. It was a harsh mirror to our world, and I appreciate that they didn’t shy away from it.
@Amani Mwangi I know you were a bit disappointed, but for me the real star of the show is the atmosphere. You can practically feel the desperation.
I’m still trying to process the ending. Did anyone else feel like it was left a bit ambiguous?
@Noura Al-Qahtani I think that’s intentional. The director wants us to reflect on our own biases and assumptions.
I felt so trapped watching the migrants suffer in that removal centre. It’s a powerful critique of our immigration system.
@Rosa Mamani I completely agree! The way the camera captures the desperation in their eyes is heartbreaking.
Can we talk about the performance of the cast? They were all so raw and emotional.
@Blessing Nnamdi they did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life!
I loved the way the film highlighted the complexities of immigration. It’s not just a black and white issue.
Has anyone seen the director’s previous work? I feel like they were building up to this kind of powerful statement.
@Nicolás López I think you’re right! Their previous films did have hints of social commentary.
The cinematography in this film is breathtaking. The way it uses light and shadow to convey the feeling of confinement is pure genius.
@Oleksiy Shevchenko couldn’t agree more! The camerawork is what makes this film stand out.
