this movie got me thinking about prejudice and stereotypes a lot
beautifully shot and a real emotional rollercoaster
gonna watch it again tonight tbh so good
i was pretty meh with the plot progression but the acting was solid
just saw it in theater and man this movie shook me
@Fadhma Zohra did you notice the cinematography?
I’m still trying to process the ending tbh, what did you guys think?
@Selina Kambundi yeah it was kinda left out in the open…not a fan of ambiguous endings
@Akosua Boateng omg ikr like totally hated that part lol
@Jemal Abdi love the way the music complemented the film
@Kelechi Nnaji yeah that’s true but for me the plot was the highlight
I’m still trying to process the emotions that Africa Blanca evoked in me. The way the film tackled the theme of fear and its consequences was raw and unflinching. I think it’s a testament to the power of cinema to create a sense of empathy and understanding.
Absolutely a phenomenal movie!
@Rotimi Adeleke agree 100%, one of the best films of the year so far
Just watched Africa Blanca at the film festival and I must say, I was deeply moved by Ousmane’s story. The way the film handled the sensitive topic of albinism was truly commendable. What struck me the most was the mother-son bond between Ousmane and Aïchata – it’s a testament to the strength of their love despite all the challenges they faced.
@Achieng Oluoch I completely agree with you. The bond between Ousmane and Aïchata was absolutely heart-wrenching. Emma Thompson’s performance as Aïchata was phenomenal – she truly brought depth and nuance to the character.
@Emma Gagnon absolutely agree about Emma Thompson’s performance! It’s a shame that the film didn’t do better in the Oscars, it definitely deserved a nod for Best Supporting Actress.
@Khulekani Dube I couldn’t agree more. It’s always frustrating when great performances like Emma Thompson’s get overlooked. Have any of you seen Daniel Medina’s other films?
@Olivia Brown yes, I’ve seen Daniel Medina’s ‘The Silent Language’. It’s a thought-provoking film that explores the complexities of human communication. I think it’s a hidden gem that deserves more attention.
@Máté Horváth thank you for sharing your opinion about ‘The Silent Language’. It’s a film that’s close to my heart and I’m glad to see it’s resonating with audiences. What did you think of the cinematography in the film?
Just watched Africa Blanca and I must say, it’s a powerful portrayal of a community that’s often misunderstood. The film’s themes of resilience and hope are a breath of fresh air in a world that’s often plagued by negativity.
